The Role of Batteries in the Future Scenario of Full Decarbonisation of Transport
Recently, the EMPOWER Project made a significant impact at the Batteries Europe event, where experts gathered to discuss the pivotal role of batteries in achieving full decarbonisation of the transport sector.
Michele De Gennaro from AIT Austrian Institute of Technology moderated a session where Manasa Sridhar, representing Iveco Group and the 2Zero initiative, provided insights into the road transport sector’s perspective on battery technology. The discussion highlighted technology gaps and regulatory barriers hindering widespread battery deployment across various transport modes.
A key theme explored was how fuel cells (FCs) and batteries can coexist as complementary solutions in a multidimensional approach to decarbonising transport, aligning perfectly with the mission of EMPOWER.
Other distinguished panelists at the event included Giorgio Travaini from Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking, Viviana Cigolotti from ENEA, David Abril Molins from WaterborneTP, Daniele Violato from Clean Aviation, and Peter Fischer from Fraunhofer ICT – BE Hybridization Task Force.
The event underscored the collaborative efforts needed across sectors to accelerate the adoption of sustainable technologies and pave the way towards a greener future for transportation.
Stay tuned for more updates on how EMPOWER continues to drive innovation and sustainability in the transport sector!
